Nsenene recipe

Nsenene are a popular delicacy in Uganda because they are a delicious and nutritious source of protein. They are also a sustainable food source, requiring less land and water than traditional livestock. Additionally, nsenene are a traditional food that has been enjoyed in Uganda for centuries.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of nsenene (grasshoppers), the fresher the better!
- 1 large onion, finely chopped (because everything tastes better with onions)
- 2 medium-sized carrots, grated (for a touch of sweetness)
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped (for a pop of color)
- 1 teaspoon of ginger powder (for a little zing)
- Salt and pepper to taste (because even grasshoppers need seasoning)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
- Wash the nsenene thoroughly in cold water. This is important because nsenene are plucked with ash, and you don’t want to eat ash.
- In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the nsenene and fry until they start to change color.
- Add the onion, carrots, and green pepper. Continue frying until the vegetables are soft and the nsenene are cooked through.
- Season with salt, pepper, and ginger powder.
- Serve warm and enjoy this unique Ugandan delicacy!
Note: If you’re feeling adventurous, you can add other spices to your nsenene, such as garlic powder, cumin, or chili powder.
